Public Safety Has Always Been The Most Concerned Issue For Everyone

E-mail Print PDF
Though Cerritos is relatively safe, there are still cases of burglaries, robberies, and thefts happening every month.  Residents would not know about these incidences until they saw the news release after some time.  Nobody likes to spread bad news.  However, when it is a safety issue, residents should be informed immediately!

When I am elected to the Cerritos City Council, I will set up a "CITYWIDE E-MAIL AND PHONE NOTIFICATION SYSTEM".  Residents can sign up to receive immediate safety related alerts.  This system can be also used to disseminate information on other major happenings: recreation services, Performing Arts Center programs, building code changes, Council meeting agenda, events announcements, etc.

Thanks to the input from residents, there are other things I will implement to increase public safety:

  • Add more lighting in all City parks. Lighting should be non-glare so the neighbors are not disturbed, and lighting should be energy efficient.
  • Sheriffs may walk their K-9s in the evenings in the park area
  • Hold neighborhood meetings
  • Solidify the Neighborhood Watch program

Together, we can make Cerritos a better place to live.

Sincerely yours,

Cindy Yen Chen
